Hey, Reader! Often enough, I’ve had people reach out to me to ask me how I became a grant consultant. Most of the time, they are professionals currently in a staff position at a nonprofit, or they are teachers looking for a career outside the classroom. Makes sense...those are the places where I also started. One resource that I always share is the Freelance Grant Writer Academy. It’s 12 months (or more) of group coaching while you grow your grant consulting business. Keep reading to the bottom of this email, where I link to a podcast episode where I share more about my experience. I really appreciated being part of a community of grant professionals/business owners whom I could talk to about the challenges I was facing in my business at each stage and learn how others were navigating challenges that I would inevitably encounter down the road. I learned a ton from Holly and her coaching team, from how to price my services to how to maintain my boundaries so I don’t burn out. Want to know my favorite services offered in the Academy?
Probably the best thing for me is that the people I’ve met in the Academy continue to be some of my most trusted colleagues. We still offer each other support, make client referrals, and cheer each other on! I also know a few grant professionals (including Executive Directors) who just wanted to get better at writing grants or leveraged the experience to secure higher-paying roles. Just in case you were wondering. The doors to the Freelance Grant Writer Academy close Friday, October 24, at 11:59 pm EST. If you’re thinking about making the leap into grant consulting or are already consulting and want a supportive community, I recommend you check it out. You can use my affiliate link here to join. If you’re still on the fence or just love free webinars, register here to join Holly on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, from 4 to 5:30 pm EST for “Earn an Extra $10K in 90 Days Writing Grants at Home.” Have a question about the program? Feel free to reply to this email or LinkedIn DM, and I’ll do my best to answer your question. Happy Grantseeking! ~ Tiffany P.S. Here's podcast episode #305 where I talk to Holly about my business, advice for nonprofit organizations, and my experience in the Academy (do you also kinda cringe watching or listening to a recording of yourself?) |
Hi! I'm Tiffany. I write a bi-weekly-ish newsletter titled, "Strategically Speaking," where I share tips and insights to help busy nonprofit leaders build out their grant strategy. I also include a couple of upcoming grant opportunities.
Hey Reader, "We've exhausted all potential funding opportunities." Those words came from the advancement officer of a well-established nonprofit during our first conversation. Their organization had been around for years, making significant impact with youth and producing ripple effects throughout their community. But they were facing a funding crossroads: Current grantmakers were starting to "wean" them off There was no prospective grant pipeline in sight Growing individual giving program...
Hey Reader, A common piece of advice that you’ve probably heard in the grants world is, “Don’t save your budget for last.” And I wholeheartedly agree on that, because there are so many elements of the budget that take time to develop and ensure alignment with your proposal narrative. But, you know what I hear less often (but should)? Don’t wait until you have the award to start thinking about grant management! Grant management should be at the forefront of proposal development. Here’s why:...
Strategically Speaking A newsletter focused on grant strategy with actionable tips and a few grant opportunities. Hey Reader, Yup, this newsletter has a new look and a new name. Hope you like it! Over the past several months, I've been thinking about how to make this newsletter a valuable resource for you and also something that I really enjoy writing. So, it was time for some reflection and a refresh. I've streamlined my service offers to focus solely on grants. While communication is so...
